Why choose LRDA
LRDA DIFFERENCE
In a society of shifting morals and an "anything goes" attitude LRDA is a conservative studio with age appropriate in music, attire, and choreography. Our instructors are accomplished dancers with years of teaching experience. Their approach is to stress correct technique at all ages. Our dancers improve faster and form a sound dance foundation because of the individual attention given them. Our focus and specialty are ages 4yrs–10yrs these are critical years for aspiring dancers and LRDA has the most to offer for this age group.
LRDA MISSION
Ladera Ranch Dance Academy is family owned dance studio committed to providing a high level of dance instruction focusing on core dance disciplines such as ballet, jazz, contemporary, and hip hop dance. Experienced instructors challenge and motivate dancers (ages of 2.5yr–Teen); in an environment that cultivates the values of hard work, integrity, and dedication.
LRDA HISTORY
Ladera Ranch Dance Academy (LRDA) was founded in June 2007 by Aimee and Chris Molloy. Mr. Molloy comes from an east coast family that has owned and operated dance studios for many years. After living in Ladera Ranch for several years, the Molloy’s pursued opening a dance studio that would better serve the dance needs of the community. In four seasons, LRDA has built a reputation as a high level dance studio with a teaching staff second to none and an "up in coming" competition team program.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW IF YOU’RE NEW TO DANCE?
Our dance season runs from September to June all classes continue on the same day and time throughout the season (new classes may be added during the year based on interest and availability). Students may enroll at anytime during the year (as long as there are spots available). Keep in mind the later in the dance year a student joins the further behind they will be compared to the rest of the class. In other words the ideal time to join is September. LRDA does one end of the year performance (showcase) in June where all the classes learn a routine and perform it on stage. The showcase is run and produced just like a professional shows, costumes must be purchased and tickets go on sale in April.
Dance continues in July and August as a summer session but is not part of the main dance year. Keep in mind dance is just like any other sport the more you practice the quicker you will improve. Taking one hour a week of dance is great but for those serious about dance more practice is critical to advancing.
Most importantly dance is for everyone male and female it can be fun, exciting, and become a life time pursuit just like any other sport. It has a rich history stemming back to the 15th century with its own specific language (primarily French) and lots of specific technique that takes years to master. Today dance continues to evolve and grow in popularity, mainly due to the entertainment industry and popular TV shows like So You Think You Can Dance.
